John Cena is no longer a full-time performer anymore in the WWE and his future as far as when he will and will not compete always seems up in the air.

This past Monday on RAW, John Cena did announce he will be in the Men’s Royal Rumble Match on January 27. It also looks like John Cena will be around for WrestleMania in MetLife Stadium as well.

According to Dave Meltzer in the latest Wrestling Observer Newsletter, he does report that Cena is slated to take on Lars Sullivan at WrestleMania. Melzter referenced the match stating,

The other planned match which turned into a behind-the-scenes story this week is one that hasn’t been even hinted, John Cena vs. Lars Sullivan.

While this was not told to us directly, all hints and signs pointed to the angle getting started at the Royal Rumble. So the Rumble show will likely tell the story as to whether they will go with this program or not. They may feel it’s just something they can work through or they may feel that it’s a risk giving that much of a push to him.

Now you have to remember that card is always subject to change, things can happen to make this match not happen and Vince could always change his mind on the match. Also, with Cena not being a full-timer anymore and WWE wanting to give Sullivan a big push, it only makes sense for Sullivan to go over Cena. If They do want Sullivan to be a big star on the main roster, having him beat a 16-time World Champion at WrestleMania is a great way to kick it off.
